Default Casarez blows by Verdin!

Up and coming Super Welterweight Raul “El Tigre” Casarez (13-2, 6 KOs) extended his win streak with a 5th round TKO win over the always tough veteran Steve Verdin (8-15, 2 KOs) on Friday night at the Jacob Browns Auditorium in Brownsville, Texas.
The bout headlined a Marines Boxing Promotions event billed as “BOXING BLOWOUT 3” 2008 Texas Cup Series. Casarez scored a knockdown over the game but over matched Verdin in the third round, and Verdin's left eye swelled up grotesquely prompting his corner to stop the carnage at the end of the 5th round.
In a super lightweight bout, unbeaten Humberto “El Terror” Ramos ( 8-0, 5 KOs) continued his winning ways with a lopsided unanimous decision win over journeyman fighter Ramiro Torres (3-14-1, 2 KOs), who suffered a knockdown in the third round when Ramos connected effectively with a lead straight right. Ramos later stated to Fightnews.com that he injured his right hand in the second round.
Great amateur standout turned pro as a bantamweight Sergio “Time To Shine” Perales (6-0, 4 KOs) who beat Roberto “Tractorcito” Perez (0-2) over four rounds earning a lopsided unanimous decision win. Scores were 40-36 from all judges.
In an entertaining bout, heavyweight Homer “El Oso” Fonseca (4-2-2, 2 KOs) battled to a four round majority draw decision with MMA turned pro boxer Matt “Thunder” Thompson (1-1-1, 1 KO) scores were 39-37 Fonseca, 39-37 Thompson and 38-38.
Middleweight Isidro “El Conejo” Areola (3-2) won a unanimous four round decision over Donald Harris (0-1) and lightweight Guadalupe “Guerro” Sanchez (1-0, 1 KO) knocked out veteran Arturo Herrera (5-12-1, 3 KOs) in the 2nd round of the scheduled four rounder.
