![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Abraham: ConfidentMarquez is a strong fighter and he deserves to fight for the world title. But I will not disappoint the fans in my home city of Bamberg. The belt will remain in Germany. Arthur Abraham will defend his IBF middleweight title against mandatory challenger Raul Marquez on October 4 in his home city of Bamberg. The unbeaten 28-year-old, who was born in Armenia before moving to Germany, recorded a third-round stoppage of Sebastien Demers on his last visit to Bamberg - and Abraham is relishing the chance to fight in front of his home fans again. "It will be a tough fight," said Abraham, who holds wins over Britons Howard Eastman and Wayne Elcock. "Marquez is a strong fighter and he deserves to fight for the world title. But I will not disappoint the fans in my home city of Bamberg. The belt will remain in Germany. "I only have the best memories of Bamberg. It is also the city where I won my first fight after breaking my jaw against Miranda. "I will make sure the next trip to Bamberg will be equally successful." Marquez, though, will pose a tough test for Abraham with the Mexican having previously held the IBF light-middleweight belt. The 36-year-old ended the unbeaten record of Giovanni Lorenzo in the eliminator to face Abraham and has lost just three of his 44 bouts.
