The WBC heavyweight eliminator between Vladimir Virchis (24-1, 20 KOs) and former cruiser champ Juan Carlos Gomez (43-1, 35 KOs) has been added to the big September 27th "Universum Champions Night" card at Color Line Arena in Hamburg featuring WBA cruiser king Firat Arslan (29-4-1, 18 KOs) against mandatory challenger Guillermo Jones (35-3-2, 27 KOs). Virchis started preparing for the bout on Monday at Hamburg's famous Universum Gym with trainer Conny Mittermeier. The fight was originally slated for March, but was pushed back when both fighters wanted more time to prepare. "I cut it off," commented Virchis. Universum Box-Promotion won the right to promote the fight at a WBC purse bid in January. Also on the card will be a title defense by WIBF junior flyweight champion Julia "Sunshine" Sahin who will face an opponent to be named.
