    Default My first fight

I've got my first fight coming up on the 26th signed up for it last night it's 3 rounds of thai boxing at a master skens interclub. No decisions and supposedly no knockouts it's just for ring experience but I'm not taking that chance.

I'm going in to dominate and "win" not just survive.

My training at the moment is 1 hour's MMA on tues and 2 hours boxing on thursdays.
I'm going to the gym today for a workout and some sparring then on sunday my mate is hopefully taking me for some curcuits and boxing.

Gonna get some roadwork in there as well as the gym and next 2 weeks gonna go to the weds MMA class as well.

I'm cutting out all alcohol, fast food, pizza etc eating loads of fruit I don't need to cut weight as I weight 11 stone and I'm about 6"3 so that's fine.

    Any advice would be appreciated

Skens interclubs are usually well organised as are Sandy Holts so enjoy it mate!

Are you fighting Thai/kB at Skens? if so!

I think the best thing for you to do is keep to the basics and don't get involved with a Clinch!

Hands high...elbows tucked in...chin tucked...Use small combinations...Loads of jabs...Doubling the jab with a low kick...Push kick- low kick- right cross...push kick- roundhouse...Plenty of inner calf jabs off the front foot!!

Keep everything tight and treat it as a Spar, you will be more relaxed that way and never throw a single shot, always look for a double with either hands or feet!!

Remember its a fight...even if your trainor tries to treat it as more of a training session and agrees with the other clubs to instruct there fighters to go easy!! Fuck it off and go for it,because your're opponent will, mark my words!

IF IT IS MMA..the same as above, but I have'nt a clue about what to do if it goes to the floor

    It's Thai mate yes

That's good advice cheers mate the only I just need a bit of work on my lead kicks other than that should be fine just about to message my instructor to see if he can set up a bit of extra sparring for me to work on those.

My boxing is fine so nothing to worry about there, I have no intention of fighting on the inside mate I've got long arms and legs so I'm planning to use that to my advantage keep them at range working off my jab and push kicks.

Anything specific I should be doing in the lead up to the fight? Aside from shitloads of exercise and training

The main thing is go over and over the small combinations mate!! You can try all the reverse spinning back kicks,Elbows,Backfists and throws you want in general training..But on the build up to a fight keep things basic and drill the combinations!

Mate I just got a cheapo pair off one of the stalls at a show I reckon they were 'Martial arts Master' or some other ridiculously sounding name Make sure you have a good fitting headguard Tho! And keep your're hands up for fucks sake You aint getting ko'd with a hard kick to the legs,so worry about keeping your're elbows tight into your're ribs and keep the chin covered...thats more important than a bruised chin
