Default Klitschko demands stall Haye bout

Klitschko, holder of the WBO and IBF titles, has since signed to face unbeaten Russian Alexander Povetkin on September 18 in Germany.

Sauerland, who has a stake in Haye following the Nikolai Valuev contest last November, said of the Klitschko-Haye negotiations: “David [Haye] is keen on fighting one of the Klitschko brothers. But the devil is in the financial details. There are multiple parties with a financial stake in Haye’s fights.”

“We’re just one of those parties. Haye has become a national superstar in the UK, and thus the conditions have changed. Haye earns as much money in the UK as the Klitschkos earn in Germany. Therefore, that makes reaching a deal much more difficult. We have to insist on a sensible financial agreement.”

Meanwhile, Bernd Bonte, Klitschko’s manager, has denied this claiming that Wladimir had offered Haye a 50-50 deal, with no future options on his fights.

“Haye wanted to box for the title immediately. He wants the big fights immediately. He knows about his talent and potential," said Sauerland.

"He was the undisputed cruiserweight champion. So far there has been a disagreement regarding the financial issues. Haye is ready to fight any time.”

On the same night that Klitschko meets Povetkin, promoter Frank Warren stages an ambitious promotion in Birmingham featuring seven title fights, including an interim world title contest, three European title bouts and two British title contests.

Four fighters - Matthew Macklin, Ryan Rhodes, Nathan Cleverly and Kell Brook – all moving towards world title contests should they win impressively.

British heavyweight champion Derek Chisora takes on Commonwealth title holder Sam Sexton while European cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli defends his strap against an unconfirmed opponent. Warren told Telegraph Sport that if Haye was looking for an opponent in the autumn, he would take David Haye against Chisora “in an instant.”

“I’m not saying that David Haye couldn’t beat Derek Chisora, but if Derek landed flush I think he’d knock Haye out.”

Yeah i get it money is important etc.. but this fight is about your legacy, his own future, he should be the one to back down in his financial demands, the Bros have earned the right to be the top dogs.
