![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I scored the fight on the back of a phone bill and came up with exactly the same score as Tommy and the 3 judges 118-109. I think the 2nd round could have been given either way. I have always been one to score punches landed of sufficient weight. I NEVER score power punches more than any other punch. The way I see it power and power punches serve the purpose of; A) Knocking your guy out to win B) TKOing your opponents to win C) Taking away your opponents ability to do you damage/hurt you and/or helping you to reduce his abilty to score with shots.....all helping you to win D) Taking away your opponents stamina and resistence so you can win E) Giving you a better chance of cutting your man and getting the fight stopped for a win. So powerful punches already do a lot for you without scoring more for them. I score good punches of sufficient weight the same as I score power punches. If you want more points from me for power, I say put your man on the canvas. Your main advantage in power is knocking your guy out or dismantling him and what ge can do to you so you can score easy on him. If you can't make that power tell and a guy lands 10 good shots on you with his skill and you land 6 with power on him, you're not getting the round from me, not unless you put him on his ass. Outpointing a guy is about outboxing him and landing more scoring punches. The only things I take into account is that punches are of sufficient weight are; A) I don't score BS SRL style flurries like he did in the last 30 seconds of each round with Hagler. I would probable score very few out of a load of flash arm and wrist shots to a camera. B) I take into account how clean a shot is and greatly take into account how much it was slipped or taken on the gloves. If a round is very close I tend to lean towards cleaner work and if a fight is being shutdown by one guy I edge towards the fighter who is more game and that is not always the come forward fighter but can be a boxer or counter-puncher. Calzaghe got close rounds for me v Hopkins because in close stale rounds he was more game. But in the first Vito Antuofermo v Hagler fight I scored many close rounds for Hagler as Vito was chraging in and the one instigating most of the clindhes and Hagler was more game in boxing and counter punching. I NEVER score defence and those that do are fucking nuts!!!!! The whole point of defence is in nullifying so; A) Your opponent does not score so you can win by out landing/out scoring with your own comparatively superior punches. B) Not getting KTFO TKOd, Cut etc C) Tiring your opponent and taking his stamina away D) Using for counter opportunities Defence should NEVER score in of itself!!! e.g. If you throw 5 shots and land 2 scoring punches and I throw and land 3 scoring punches it is easy to see how defence already scores indirectly via evasion. If you score defence you often effectively score twice for a guy which is dumb. Anyway how does everyone else score fights??? |
