Rendall Munroe (right) in action against Fabrizio Trotta on Thursday
Leicester boxer Rendall Munroe wants to hold his next title defence in his home town after beating Italian Fabrizio Trotta in Dublin on Thursday.
It was the 28-year-old bin man's third defence of his European super bantamweight title and he is now set to fight again on 27 February.
Trainer Jason Shinfield told BBC Radio Leicester: "The fight went absolutely to plan.
"We are now looking for a big venue somewhere in Leicester."
Trotta was unable to continue after spraining his wrist throwing a punch halfway through the fifth round. Shinfield added: "Rendall was really ripping the body shots in and [Trotta] was looking for a way out then." Munroe's next opponent will be announced shortly but is rumoured to be Spain's Kiko Martinez.
Munroe looked very poor and off the pace in the early rounds and couldn't get his shots off.
The Italian was much faster, quicker to the punch and had Munroe looking like he was an Oscar de la Hoya caught in the headlights of a Manny Pacquiao. Munroe was all getting feet planted and set and no trigger.
As the fight wore on Munroe started to warm more to the fight and task in front of him, garnered some timing and picked up the slack from the Italian who was fading fast. He still couldn't establish the jab with any fluency or authority, but the Italian had thrown so much in racking up points in the early rounds that he was gasping for breath, he had clearly shot his bolt.
Munroe faced far less workrate in front of him and with less than stellar power from the smaller man he was able to walk him down and ferociously land blisteringly powerful body shots with alarming repetition to his mans ribs and kidneys.
The result was an excentric and somewhat enjoyable Italian fighter blowing hard, looking to his corner for a way out and finally quitting the fight from a supposed hand injury that didn't fool anyone least of all Munroe. Munroe said the guy was just looking for a way out of the fight, he was correct.
Body shots and some decent defence that enabled Munroe to minimise early damage and tire the Italian aside, Munroe did little right in the fight and size was as much a key for him as anything else.
The best part of the performance was his bin man associated ring entrance and rapport with the fight fans.
Munroe will not get away with performances like this against a higher calibre of opponent; this fight should serve as a warning against future complacency.

I like watching Munroe I'm disappointed I missed it.
The fight was obviously a learning curve for a man who was getting too caught up in his own hype about his ability. Hopefully a WBU or a more meaningful title shot won't be far off.
Dunnes people want it in Ireland, Maloney's basically said he either comes over here on his terms or shuts up and waits until he's mandatory.
Looks like we're in for a wait tbh.
Rendall Munroe retained his European super-bantamweight crown for the third occasion when challenger Fabrizio Trotta quit midway through round five citing an injury to his wrist at City University in Dublin on December 18.
Trotta sustained his injury when attempting to land an uppercut which Munroe blocked that prompted the Italian to immediately cry out in pain and turn his back as Munroe prepared to follow-up. Prior to the sudden ending, Trotta appeared to be looking for a way out on his stool at the end of the previous session after being repeatedly troubled by Munroe’s hurtful body shots.
The Leicester bin man didn’t have things his own way though. Slow out of the blocks for what looked on paper to be a routine title defence, Munroe was placed onto the back foot by the aggressive Trotta who was brimming with confidence. The Italian ought to have capitalised when a right hand wobbled Munroe in round three but failed to recognise that Rendall’s legs had briefly betrayed him. It served as the wake-up call Munroe needed and he was more assertive from then on, particularly to the body which left Trotta gasping for air in round four.
The European champion’s sloppy opening mirrored his previous title defence against Arsen Martirosyan in September which saw Munroe overcome problems early on before he eventually triumphed on points.
