![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i think its pretty safe to say amongst the other great 130 pounders of his generation barrera/morales/marquez....manny pacquaio stands out as the top dawg with a record of 5-1-1 3 ko's against that group of future hall of famers...but how do you think he would of faired against these 4 other great names in that weight class of the last 30 years???alexis arguello, azumah nelson, julio cesar chavez and finally floyd mayweather jr. 1. alexis arguello - in my opinion the arguello fight would look alot like manny's first fight with erik morales...alexis controlling the distance and range with his height and superior jab,i think by the middle rounds the punching of arguello would start to show on manny's face and would lead to late round stoppage between 10-12 rounds... 2. azumah nelson - in this one,i think manny's speed and awkward style would give azumah fits but azumah was a physically strong fighter at this weight and it would be a tough and entertaining fight....but i like manny buy majority or split decision... 3. julio cesar chavez - this might be the most exciting fight of the 4...i could see chavez having trouble early with manny's speed, but j.c. starting to take control in the middle rounds by tiring manny down with his relentless body attack and constant pressure...in the end i think a bloody chavez wins more rounds by dominating from the middle of the fight to the end with a close but unanimous decision... 4. floyd mayweather jr. - i think this is probably the least competitive of the four fights from the standpoint that because of floyds superior skill set and athletic ability he would never be forced to stand and fight with manny at any point in the match except for when floyd wanted too ...the footwork, counterpunching and the fact that floyd is just as fast if not faster than manny would frustrate pacuaio...i think at some point floyd might even score a knockdown from manny's habit of coming in reckless and off balance trying to wing those big power shots...in the end its an easy unanimous decision for "pretty boy" floyd.... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I think Manny has a great chance against all of them, except Money May. Manny also wouldn't have had such a good chance vs. Arguello as well, with him being both taller and lankier. I think that Azumah wouldn't have been able to answer Pac's handspeed, but Nelson was also a very hard hitter at 126-130. Pac by close decision against Nelson. Handspeed was almost JC Chavez's downfall against Meldrick Taylor, but Pacquiao can't throw the kinds of combos with lightning speed Taylor could. Chavez was a warrior and he would win a tough decision. Pacquiao doesn't really stand a chance vs. Mayweather at 130, he is nowhere near the polished tactician Floyd is, but I think Manny is as naturally gifted an athlete as anyone out there. But if Pacquiao gets past Oscar De La Hoya (if the fight gets made), we may see Pacquiao-Mayweather in 09, which would be a tremendous fight. Just wishful thinking.

![]() | Pacman doesn't really beat any of these guys in their primes @ 130, since he isn't in his now. All these guys were either natural super featherweights or natural lightweights in their prime. Pacman is a natural bantamweight. Most his career is flyweight but he was in fact incredibly young when he started so his body really didn't mature till his 20s when he became a bantamweight. lb for lb I rate him over Nelson and Arguello of the pre-mentioned list, but I don't think he wins at lightweight. Only Salvador Sanchez and Pernell Whitaker could beat Azumah back then, and Pacquiao don't compete with those guys. And Arguello is the 2nd greatest Super-Featherweight of all time, second to Mayweather. O btw, Azumah came out of retirement and just had a fight this year....50 years old now. He lost a close MD to some rando at junior middleweight. Surprised he doesn't weigh even more at his age....Africans keep in shape.
