its a very valid question and had he done so his legacy would be long cemented in history now and he wouldnt be taking pointless fights against the likes of Calzage which mean nowt but money.

I think if he'd fought top fighters throughout his career (like De la Hoya) he'd probably have about six losses now.

I agree entirely ... their is a whole school of thought that says that Joe Calzaghe offered Roy a fight years ago but Roy wanted ridiculous money and basically priced himself out of the fight ... i wonder how many others that happened to?

I think its safe to say that Roy and a few of the other "top" fighters are guilty of having outpriced themselves in order to avoid a potentially uncomfortable matchup.

I think it's clear now he only has one or two fights left. The motivation has gone.
