    Default two on one sparring

recently in my gym my trainer has started putting in three people in the ring at the same time. each minute in each three minute round a different person is ganged up on. so far it has helped a lot with allowing me to develop head movement and it makes it easier to manage while fighting one person. Have any of you done anything like that or heard of that type of thing before and do you think that it is worth it?

Two differing fighters versus one per round is a very good thing if separately for a minute and a half each per round.

It can keep a fighter from getting lazy, force a high work rate, increase stamina, keep a well conditioned guy focused etc and is a good move with some people.

If only Audley Harrison got that kind of treatment he might have got somewhere, instead of still being a lazy ass 4x2s fighters still.

But fighting multiple people at the same time is just plain dumb and dangerous.

You wont lean anything but you might see something late and get caught bad or end up learching out of the way of shots at odd angles and pull a muscle or injur an ankle or something dumb.

The guy who is training you is being a dick and if he doesn't sort his head out you need to get rid of him and get trained by someone else.
Civilised man seeks out good and intelligent company, so by learned discourse he may rise above the savage....

But most people on websites prefer to start the day talking to a total dickhead, so they can remind themselves that they are the best

My trainer sticks us in corners and gets one person to throw hard shots at us, for defense.

Thats a reasonable training exercise though and used by a good number of trainors...two attacking one is senseless and learns you nothing!

You've only been training two weeks - don't be so hard on yourself. In fact at almost all amateur boxing gyms they wouldn't even let you spar after only two weeks (I had several months of training before I started sparring).

It isn't so much about freezing but new guys do seem to forget to move their feet and before they realize it they've been smacked four times in the head. If you just keep thinking about moving your feet I promise you'll get hit less.

The key is to keep moving sideways & not just stand in front of your opponent or move only backwards & forwards. It sounds obvious but for some reason it's easy to forget!

Sparring is incredibly tiring, that's how your form can go to bits (work on your fitness), but the last thing you should do is drop your hands! That's an invitation for a right-hook & then it's good night!

EDIT: As far as your form & combos go. Practice with shadow boxing in front of a mirror. Mata's given a good list of combos but it's also a case of mixing it up. Typically leading with one (or two lefts) is good for starters (if you've only got one punch it has to be a jab), then follow it up with other punches. Try a few different combos & see what works for you. When you're fighting left-handed fighters (with their right foot forward) they can be vulnerable to a straight right, but you don't want to over do it. When one punch is out, your other hand should be protecting your chin. When you're good enough you can fight like Roy Jones but until then fight by the book! Stocky fighters can throw good left hooks - keep those hands up!!!!!
