Default Khan backs gavin withdrawal

Khan - backed Gavin decision.

Amir Khan feels Frankie Gavin made the right decision not to fight in the Olympics and has urged the world amateur champion to give it another go in London in 2012.
Gavin was one of Britain's best bets for a gold medal in Beijing but he was forced to return home earlier this week after failing to make the lightweight limit.
Khan, who won a silver medal four years ago in Athens, told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek programme: "I was surprised.
"He's waited four years for the Olympic Games and when the time comes he couldn't make the weight. But he did fight a couple of fights above the weight before the Olympics so maybe he grew into the welterweight weight and couldn't get back down to lightweight.
"Frankie might have made the weight but he might have felt weak so there's no point killing yourself to make the weight and not performing so I think that's the way he took it.
"He's done the right thing - he's put his hand up and said 'I can't make the weight'. He probably could have but he would have been weak and he wouldn't have performed well."
Gavin's future has been the subject of much speculation since he became England's first ever gold medallist at the World Amateur Boxing Championships in Chicago last year.
The Birmingham boxer is expected to follow Khan's example and turn professional but the 21-year-old has urged Gavin to wait until after the London Games.
He continued: "I went to the Olympic Games and then I turned professional a year later and I think Frankie should wait for the 2012 Olympics because you'll never get an opportunity to fight in London ever again in an Olympic Games.
"To have it on your doorstep - if that was me, I would wait. Hopefully he'll get funding off the Amateur Boxing Board and they can look after him for the next four years.
"Hopefully in the Olympics in four years he can bring a gold back. You can't beat the Olympics, it's the best tournament."
