BEIJING (Reuters) - Samoa's Farani Tavui was recovering well from his knockout in the Olympic boxing competition on Saturday, an International Amateur Boxing Association (AIBA) official said on Sunday.

"He is fully alert and neurogically sound," AIBA medical commission chairman Charles Butler said in a statement.
"The hospital is very happy that we sent him there and they will continue to observe him and take some tests. All going well, he is expected out of hospital in a day or two," he added.
Tavui lost his balance and fell shortly after receiving a right hook from Croatia's Marijo Sivolija-Jelica in the third round of their light-heavyweight bout. He managed to stand before the end of the referee's count but staggered and fell again.
Medical personnel intervened and carried him off on a stretcher. He remained unconscious for a brief period but was alert and responding when he was taken to a nearby hospital for a scan that revealed no major injury.

That KO was scary. Just hope he gets through it well. It seemed like all of that training helped him keep his balance well, but when you get hit flush, you go down.
